Staying Connected With Technology

Did you know that there are numerous health benefits associated with socializing? From mental health to a longer life expectancy, human connection brings a richness to all our lives. We all crave human connection in our daily lives and during a time when we can’t be together, it’s important to find other ways to connect.

Here’s how we’re staying connected with technology at Dellwood Gardens:

Using Technology to Connect

The safety and health of our residents is our top priority, which means following recommendations to restrict visitors to essential personnel only and advising our residents to follow the stay at home order. As we all know, this can lead to little or no socializing and can be quite isolating. At Dellwood Gardens we have been helping our residents reach their loved ones through video chat. Our team assists with set up so that residents can share a smile and a laugh with their family and friends in real time. This is one small way that we are able to keep everyone in the loop with their family and friends near and far.

Back to Basics

When was the last time you wrote a letter? Our residents have taken a non-technological approach to connecting as well, so consider getting creative and writing a sweet letter to your loved ones. Don’t have any relatives in senior living? Why not make a new connection with a Dellwood Gardens resident in the form of a pen pal? Write about a new project you’re working on, or maybe what you’re doing to stay active. It’s fun to get a handwritten letter in the mail! You can brighten someone’s day simply by taking 10 minutes to put pen to paper!

Letters can be sent to:

Although a video chat in real-time is a quick and easy way to connect, there’s something personal about sending a nice letter. Whatever method you choose to communicate with, the kind gesture will always be appreciated.
